About the Role We are seeking an experienced AS400 / IBM i Developer to join our client’s technology team in Indiana. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience developing, maintaining, and supporting applications on the IBM i / AS400 platform. The candidate will be responsible for application development, enhancements, production support, troubleshooting, and database-related activities while working closely with business and technical teams. Key Responsibilities Develop, enhance, maintain, and support applications on the AS400 / IBM i platform. Design, develop, and troubleshoot programs using RPG / RPGLE. Work with CL / CLLE for job control and automation. Develop and maintain applications using DB2 for i. Write and optimize SQL queries for application and reporting requirements. Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Perform debugging, root-cause analysis, and production issue resolution. Support batch processing, jobs, and system interfaces. Participate in application enhancements, testing, deployment, and documentation. Collaborate with business analysts, developers, QA teams, and production support teams. Ensure application performance, reliability, and maintainability. Participate in legacy application modernization initiatives where required. Required Technical Skills Strong experience with AS400 / IBM i / iSeries. Hands-on experience with RPG / RPGLE. Strong knowledge of CL / CLLE. Experience with DB2 for i. Strong SQL knowledge. Experience with application development and production support. Good understanding of IBM i jobs, batch processing, and troubleshooting. Experience working with enterprise applications and integrations. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Preferred Skills Experience with Free-Form RPG / RPGLE. Experience with IBM i modernization projects. Knowledge of APIs, web services, or system integrations. Experience with source control and deployment processes. Exposure to Agile development methodologies. Experience in enterprise or large-scale production environments. Candidate Profile 4 years of relevant AS400 / IBM i development experience. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Willingness to support critical production applications when required.
